A Family Affair at CLYC

It was a family affair on Sunday with Race Officer Conor Quinn being ably assisted by his mother, and this up and coming team successfully completed two races in light shifty winds. In the first race Andy Browne and David Hicks led from start to finish but were brought down by their handicap, which left Jim Linton to claim 1st place with the Cranleys not too far behind in 2nd. In the B fleet Luke McIlwaine and David Corkey dominated the fleet on the water and Luke secured two well deserved bullets, with David just losing out to Matthew McNulty and Erin McIlwaine on handicap. At only 9 years old Erin was certainly keeping the boys on their toes!

The second Race saw a well-called postponement for a couple of minutes until the wind filled in nicely from Rostrevor. Sarah McCann had a great start and led from start to finish claiming 1st Place, with Jim Linton in second and Commodore Philip O’Connor getting a well deserved third.

Congratulations to Matthew McNulty, Conor Quinn and Luke McIlwaine for making the RYA Northern Ireland Junior Topper Squad, with Conor and Luke also getting onto the Irish Topper Squad.
