A great fleet of 20 boats turned out last Sunday under the watchful eye of Tim MacAdorey. The A fleet was boosted not only by the return of Henry McLaughlin from Cardiff, but also by the long awaited re-launch of Tim Gibbons. Paddy Rooney deserted by his crew, was forced into a Laser Standard for the first time in ages and managed to give a creditable performance. Watch the situations vacant column of this paper for more news. A heavily biased line saw McLaughlin get a great start at the port end but hot on his transom was Conor O'Farrell who chased hard for the whole race finishing only seconds behind despite the smaller sail, so winning easily on handicap and putting all the old sea dogs firmly in their box.
In the B fleet it was cat and mouse between Conor Quinn and Stephen Finnegan who finished first and second respectively. Newcomer Luke McIlwaine from Newcastle was snapping at their heels with a third place in only his second race on the lough. One to watch out for I suspect.
Conor Quinn leading the B Fleet Frostbite Series by a safe margin.
