Last Sunday's sailing was held in light easterly winds and Ian and Stephen Finnegan set 2 great courses for a respectable fleet of boats. The A fleet was a battle between Jim Linton, Rooney/McDonagh and the McLaughlins who managed a narrow victory in race 1 despite a broken main halyard. Rooney salvaged a second place after an uncharacteristically poor start. Linton did his best but the Laser just didn’t have enough sail to keep up with the Laser 2000's.
Race two was a closer affair with all boats getting a good start and it was nip and tuck to the windward mark. The light winds however again favoured the McLaughlins and the result was as for Race 1.
A good fleet of B Fleet boats fought hard and close but the newly appointed Irish squaddies Quinn and McNulty could not be caught and took a one-two a piece.
To encourage more 2 man sailing the club is running a training day on Saturday 3rd November starting at 1.30 pm. All over 16 welcome. See WWW.CLYC.INFO for details. The Annual Dinner Dance and presentation night is in the Whistledown Hotel on 11th November, and again see the web site for details.
