RYA Coaching Session

Last weekend Barry McCartan, Irish National Topper Coach, took 16 club juniors for 4 sessions of testing sailing in winds gusting to Force 5. He was impressed with the talent displayed and said he saw many promising sailors for squads this year and next.

After the disappointment of a cancelled regatta last weekend, Race officer Paddy Rooney was determined to hold two races despite the big waves and gusty wind. Stars of the show in the A fleet were Richard and Brian Cranley who took two bullets with style. Kieran may well return from holidays to find his seat taken! Ian Finnegan and Mel Hughes demonstrated spectacular capsize technique with Mel going through the rinse cycle several times. He came out shaken but shining.

Congratulations to Conor O’Farrell who was 6th overall and 1st under fourteen at the Topper Leinsters, while he was 4th in the Traveller and 1st under 14 at that as well.
