Victory for Gannet

HUMDINGER with AQUABAT on her heels

AQUABAT and AURORA in battle

On Saturday the CLYC cruiser Mid Season kicked off in a pleasant Force 3 south-easterly wind. Four boats jostled for position on the starting line and exciting neck-and-neck racing continued for the rest of the race.

Brian McCann’s GANNET with the Top Crew aboard, led the fleet at the first mark and close racing continued throughout the 80 minute contest, with Michael McCabe’s HUMDINGER, Michael O’Hare’s AURORA and Paul Kavanagh’s AQUABAT.

GANNET attained first position overall with handicap correction.

Next Saturday’s Cruiser race will be the CLYC’s Mourne Trophy which will be sailed with a traditional course out of the Lough and on to Kilkeel, and it is hoped that there will be a good turnout from boats all over the Lough. The start time will be at 11.00 am at Killowen.

Results:
1st GANNET Brian McCann, CLYC
2nd AQUABAT Paul Kavanagh, CLYC
3rd HUMDINGER Michael McCabe, CSC
4th AURORA Michael O’Hare, CLYC
