39 Toppers descended on Killowen last weekend for the first Topper Traveller of 2014. It was also the first sailing of the year at CLYC. Race Officers O’Hare and Bradley, with their team of expert mark layers got three races in bang on schedule despite shifting winds from the east/south and anything in-between. In the 4.2 class Erin McIlwaine from Newcastle was unbeatable with three straight bullets to take the overall win with ease. The 4.7 class was a tighter affair. Peter Gilmore of SLYC came out on top with 3/1/2 ahead of Hugh Perrette from NYC and local star Conor Quinn. Other local results included a fine performance from Luke McIlwaine of Newcastle YC in 4th overall and Matthew McNulty in 11th place in the U14 Class.
Club Racing starts next Sunday so get down and check your boat is still there after the winter storms!
