McLaughlin Junior Cleans Up

Wednesday last was a great sailing evening with a nice force three from the east. Tim Gibbons was the only one fit to challenge McLaughlin Junior but ran out of steam before the last beat and had to settle for third. Jim Linton fought off Conor O'Farrell and Richard Flood to take 4th. In The B Fleet Stephen Finnegan easily beat Aidan McKay in the Pico, some junior!

Sunday's weather was even better. Philip O'Connor and Donal McNulty in charge, set a monstrously long course for anyone with an interest in seeing the tennis and appeals for shortening were dismissed. The first race was a procession behind McLaughlin Junior again with only the Cranley Brothers putting up any fight at all despite an individual recall. Race two was more spirited with the senior McLaughlins leading for the first half of the race. However the run, as usual the downfall of the L2K let junior lead the last lap and finish 30 secs ahead, Cranleys again settling for third. Matthew McNulty in The B Fleet sailed well to take 2 bullets while Matthew Collins discovered that the bung is a very important piece of equipment and not to be forgotten!

No results in yet from Topper Nationals in Donaghadee where Conor Quinn, Tom O'Hare, Anna McNulty and Stephen Finnegan were flying the CLYC flag. Hopefully good news next week.
