Despite their retiring nature the Cranley brothers are still proving very competitive and with Declan McChesney in charge of affairs last Wednesday they were unlucky to lose to Henry McLaughlin Junior and Conor O'Farrell by the narrowest of margins. Sarah McCann was also sailing well to take fourth.
On Sunday last Kieran Cranley was relegated to race Officer with a stiff sea breeze which managed to invert not only the Rooney/McDonagh combination but Browne/Hicks and Philip O'Connor who went through the rinse cycle no less than 5 times. The star of the day was Tim Gibbons who is staging quite a comeback. Browne/Hicks managed a recovery to take second and commendably, so did O'Connor, to take third. Rooney/McDonagh however in a lamentable capsize recovery failed to finish the race.
The B Fleet was a race between Matthew Collins who had no problem taking advantage of Oscar Henshaw who now knows that your boat won't float if you leave the bung out!
Good results from the Connaughts in Lough Ree where Henry McLaughlin Junior took his best result so far in the Standard fleet with 6th. Kate MacAdorey sailed a stormer to also take her best ever finish at 16th.
Don’t forget Newcastle Regatta next Saturday. Details at http://www.newcastleyachtclub.co.uk/regatta-2013.html
