Roche Reigns
A great start to the season for Ian Roche who was first over the line in both races with a comfortable margin. He had to concede Race 1 to Paul and Finbar Bradley on handicap but he left no doubt in Race 2. Terry Rafferty and Michael McKevitt nearly upset the established order in Race 1 with a sterling performance but came to grief rounding the last mark (or rather not rounding the last mark!). John White had a Titanic sail on his own in the Bahia, thankfully he didn’t sink.
In the B Fleet, Trudy O’Hare took 1st place in Race 1 and 3rd in Race 2 to leave her in pole position overall. Kate MacAdorey Took 4th in Race 1 and 1st in Race 2 to leave her in second place overall. Rachel McKay and Matthew Collins sailed well to take a 2nd place in Race 1 and Race 2 respectively.
Junior Squad at ISA Youth Nationals
Sailing in a fleet of 320 boats from all over the world, Junior Squad sailors gave a great account of themselves in very testing conditions, on Friday light winds of 5-8 knots, Saturday 20-25 knots, very choppy sea, a lot of broken boats & broken wills! Sunday 10-14 knots, beautiful conditions.
