Last Sunday was the first race of the Frostbite Series but despite this the sun shone and there was no frost in sight. Unfortunately the wind also failed to blow and Race Officer Pat Dunbar made a brave decision to launch the sizeable fleet in less than 5 knots of wind. Immediately he had set the course the wind shifted 180 degrees but at last picked up enough to start the first and only race.
Adrian Hand and James McNulty got away first and kept the advantage to the end even when Dunbar had to shorten the last leg in failing wind. McNulty took his first ever A fleet win beating Hand into second place in a battle against the tide. The rest of the A Fleet failed to finish the course and the B Fleet race had to be abandoned. Best showing in the B Fleet was Conor O’Farrell and Richard Flood who have taken to the RS Feva.
There are a few tickets left for the Annual Dinner Dance and Presentation next Saturday. See www.CLYC.info

A Good start was vital in the light wind.
