Finnegan on Top Form

A good fleet of 19 boats turned out last Sunday under the guidance of Race Officer Connla Conway. Two races were held in light westerly wind.

The B Fleet was dominated by Stephen Finnegan who took two bullets and Tom O’Hare who had to settle for two seconds. These two boys were just back from the Topper Worlds and their experience there has obviously served them well. Conor Quinn was hot on the heels of both these lads with two thirds.

In the A fleet Ian Roche and the Cranleys tried hard but failed miserably to make any impression on Henry McLaughlin Junior who took two comfortable wins. The Cranleys however took two valuable seconds which leave them looking invincible for the Lyon Trophy. Ian Roche had to settle for two thirds.

Next weekend the Cruiser Regatta will be held on Saturday (for details contact Brian McCann), and there will be normal sailing on Sunday.

Good luck to Paul and Helen McParland, Dara O’Connor and Henry McLaughlin Junior who are all heading to the Irish Nationals in Lough Derg next week. Congratulations also due to Conor O’Farrell who finished in the Gold Fleet at the Topper Worlds last week in Dun Laoghaire, no mean feat against 170 of the best Topper sailors in the world.
