The Battle for the Mourne Trophy

Post-Race Serenity at Ardglass Marina

The CLYC cruiser fleet gathered at 11 am on Saturday 9-Jul-11 for the Mourne Trophy race to Kilkeel. The Force 2/3 breeze escorted them out of the Lough but wilted as they approached the Hellyhunter Cardinal Mark outside the Lough. However from this point onwards the cyclonic wind returned and the tension mounted and climaxed at the finish line at Kilkeel Harbour.

Michael O’Hare and his crew basked in the afterglow of victory as the flotilla meandered on to Ardglass. Great rejoicing took place at Ardglass Marina where many gathered in the pretty harbour for the celebrations.

O’Hare adds yet another piece of silver to his already bulging trophy cabinet.
