Champions in our Midst!

Matthew McNulty, Conor Quinn, Luke McIlwaine and Erin McIlwaine at the Leinster Championships last weekend.

Conor Quinn took the Leinster Championships last weekend finishing with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the Sunday that left him 7 points clear ahead of his nearest rival. Erin McIlwaine won the 4.2 category as well. So CLYC now have both the Munster (Anna McNulty) and Leinster Topper Champions in their ranks. Fantastic results.

Meanwhile back at CLYC Tim Gibbons was at the head of affairs last Sunday. Only one race was held as Line Dancer had to be recovered and cleaned. The 400s set the early pace after a heavily biased port start. The McLaughlins looked good early but soon slipped behind Rooney/McDonagh at the first mark and then behind Browne/Hicks after having spinnaker problems. Although behind on the water, Conor O¹Farrell in the Radial was the clear winner on handicap, with Rooney/McDonagh having to settle for second. Ian Roche took third leaving the other 400s out in the cold.

In the B Fleet Stephen Finnegan had an emphatic win over Tom O’Hare in second and David Corkey in third.
