In Dun Laoghaire last week the Irish National Laser Championships were held over 4 days and 11 races. Henry McLaughlin (jun) competed in the Laser Standard rig. The fleet of 42 was seriously competitive and included 4 sailors just back from London 2012 including Annalise Murphy and James Espey. Sunday's races especially were spectacular with the tall ships sailing round Dublin Bay as a backdrop. McLaughin sailed well to finish 13th overall in the fleet with a best result of 6th. This gave him the youth (U19) title in the standard rig by a large margin. Dara O'Connor, also from CLYC also put in a sterling performance in the Radial Rig.
Next weekend the annual regatta takes place at CLYC so lets see all those boats out for the last weekend of the "summer". This will incorporate the Irish Laser 2000 championship 2012.
Meanwhile racing at the club continues. Rooney /McDonagh lead the Lyon Trophy series with the Cranley Brothers snapping at their heels and Jim Linton not far behind. In the B League Connor Quinn has a substantial lead over Stephen Quinn and Matthew Collins.
