Mince Pie Race 2012
Boxing day produced typical Carlingford Lough weather complete with the famous “Kettles” so the race had to be postponed until New Year's Day. In squally force 4 southwesterly wind, senior race officer Chris O’Hare started a large fleet of boats but the B Fleet was soon overcome with capsizes and only Conor O’Farrell finished to take 1st prize. In the A Fleet Paddy Rooney and Catherine McDonagh added another Roche Trophy to their already extensive 2011 winnings. Henry McLaughlin junior gave chase but after a capsize at the first gybe mark never recovered and had to settle for second place ahead of Chris Morris.
Final 2011 Results
Michael O’Hare and Osmond Morris took the A Fleet Frostbite series comfortably and Conor Quinn took the B Fleet Frostbite Honours.
Racing now ends until Easter but keep an eye on the web site for details of Junior Training.
