9 Years Sailing Round the World
Friday 4th March 2011 at CLYC, promises to be a most enjoyable and informative evening.
Olivia will outline the pros and cons of living and cooking etc. in the continual moving environment of the "Domestic Engineering Department".
Crossing the Atlantic with the "Atlantic Rally for Cruisers" (The ARC) they were awarded the prestigious "Spirit of the Rally Award".
Some of the subjects covered will be how they coped with fire aboard, and how they narrowly avoided crocodile and shark attacks. They recall being caught in a storm between Tonga and New Zealand as the most frightening time they have ever had at sea.
While anchored at the Polynesian Island of Niue, they co-ordinated, over a two day period, the rescue of a fellow yachtsman who developed a serious medical condition.
The above is just a sample of their talk. It promises to be a memorable evening for sailors and non sailors alike.
Starting at 8:00pm SHARP, the talk will last for approximately 90 minutes, and will be followed by supper and bar (a nice curry and other food from Café Calluna).
Cost per person for the talk and the supper - Only £10
